CASTAGNOLI, Castellina In Chianti
Owned and run with German precision, this picture perfect postcard of an estate is nestled 400m high in the hills of Castellina In Chianti. For the past 30 years, the 80 acres of the estate have been farmed biologically, with 10% given over to Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot vines.
In 2001, Castagnoli converted to the even more exacting biodynamic methods of Rudolph Steiner. The past decade has also seen a new owner, Alfred Schefenacker, who has employed the dedicated and watchful eye of a new winemaker.
